The leftist paper the Guardian sums it all up.
There are no excuses this time. We can hope that Bush takes note of the great (pro-American) English conservative Edmund Burke's dictum that "magnanimity in politics is not seldom the truest wisdom" and governs more consensually now than before.
But Bush's opponents should be wise too. Bush won. They lost. It's time for the Democrats to get back to the drawing board.
I also think its time for Republicans to get back to the drawing board to and decide what they stand for. Anybody But Kerry is the mandate Nov 2 delivered. Time for the Republican to hold their elected reps to their promises. Balanced budgets, aggressive defense, compassion, accountability and a family friendly policies.
