The straw after the final Straw
The ACLU war against the Boy Scouts has made me realize that my quick decision to leave the Democratic party the day before thanksgiving because of the NAACP's lauding the destruction of 760 black children's educational opportunity was not an action to be regretted.
These formally great organizations that help secure the right of blacks to vote have so lost their way and have become nothing but an arm to the morally foolish democratic party. Their constant use of the judiciary to flout the decisions of our elected representatives prove Bush's point about activist judges.
Both private schools and the Boy Scouts were organization that help me, my brother and our friend from Harlem succeed. I see these as direct attacks on organizations that have empowered black youth, helping they to become responsible and successful men. Their actions are unacceptable and they must be resisted.

Comments:
It is an interesting intellectual exercise to watch the awakening of folks who like me who "used to be Democrats"! As Ronald Reagan said, "I didn't leave the Democrats. They left me!" And they still don't get it! Welcome to the club, Scott.
What if a group that didn't let blacks in recieved federal funding, or was let to use the federal resouces in other ways? The Boy Scouts decided that discriminating against gays and atheists was more important than other principles. People always say one should be ready for the consequences of their actions, so why should the Boy Scouts be an exception?
Shannon on your two points:
First the Boy Scouts is facing the conseqences of its actions, and I don't believe they acted wisely in calling themselves a religious organization. But its the NAACP and the ACLU actions I am reacting to because they are harming young people.
The military has a don't ask don't tell policy and that is the boy scouts policy and its a good policy. Sexuality is not a part of scouting. And Atheism is not a religion so its not protected by the first Admendment. (yes I know Judges have decided differently and they are wrong).
Discrimation against Blacks is the law of the land. It was passed by congress. It is called the civil right act.
http://usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/laws/majorlaw/civilr19.htm
"All persons shall be entitled to be free, at any establishment or place, from discrimination or segregation of any kind on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin, "
If our society decides that sexual preference, or music preference should make you a protected class then we need to pass a law to make it so.
This making unchanging law by Judicial fiat is a problem because it doesn't allow society to make compromises that everyone can live with. Instead it polarizes issues.
